Parkerville Children and Youth Care inc. have an exciting new opportunity for Professional Therapeutic Carers to join our Midwest and Gascoyne team on a FIFO basis to provide therapeutic care to children who have experienced trauma from abuse. The Out of Home Care programme at Parkerville Children and Youth Care Inc. provides a holistic, multi-disciplinary and therapeutic care service for vulnerable children. Our aim, as a team of committed staff, is to bring healing and growth to the lives of vulnerable children.
This opportunity will allow the right candidate to work on a FIFO basis, travelling from Perth to either Geraldton or Carnarvon, allowing you to bring your passions into the workplace, all whilst holding a work and life balance. We are seeking Professional Therapeutic Carers to work either a
7 days on and 7 days off roster, or a
11 days on 3 days off roster. Please note that it is a requirement of the 11 days on 3 days off roster that you must have a volunteer live-in partner carer reside with you in the Family Group Home.
As a Professional Therapeutic Carer, you will work in a residential setting with children in your care and will play a pivotal role in the day to day life of these children by providing support and care to guarantee a positive, homely environment. This will involve everyday tasks such as:
- Perform a range of childcare and development tasks such as maintaining the physical environment, domestic duties, attending to health and medical requirements of children, play and recreational activities and educational needs,
- Provide day to day care for children in ways which meet their developmental needs, and have a positive effect on their self-esteem, attachment and security, in accordance with duty of care requirements and agency processes and philosophies,
- Implement the Individual Care Plan for each child in a supportive, planned and purposeful manner, including observation, recording, monitoring and feedback to the Team Leader and other professional staff,
- Write file notes and maintain appropriate records in regard to a child or young person,
- Assist children to develop social skills, problem solving and independent living skills as appropriate to their age and developmental level.
