We are looking for an experienced Community Engagement Officer to join our team for a twelve-month contract. The role will demand a collaborative and flexible approach due to the diverse, fast-paced and high impact nature of Minderoo. The focus of this role is on collaboration, working closely with the community, keeping them informed at every stage of the project and supporting them through the change.

We need a motivated, collaborative and flexible individual, with proven experience and a positive attitude to take on each new task, no matter how big or small.

The Role:
  • Building a strong relationship with the community and developing a positive Minderoo brand.
  • Collaborating with the community to take feedback and working closely with the broader Minderoo team to help negate any community concerns.  
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Minderoo’s community development strategies, plans and policies.
  • Coordinate and work in partnership with key stakeholders in the planning, development and implementation of community engagement activities.
  • Develop a local database of key contacts so project updates can be facilitated over the full life of the project.
  • Identify and develop partnership opportunities with community groups clubs and government agencies to achieve greater collaboration with Minderoo.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of information through newsletters, press releases, website and events calendars to community members and groups.
  • Represent Minderoo at various meetings with the council, the community or other stakeholders.

Your Qualities:
  • You’re proactive and cooperative, a strong communicator and a strategic thinker
  • You’re a people person with strong relationship building skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with a natural ability to build rapport
  • Confident in your ability to think on your feet and respond to challenging situations as they arise
  • A fast learner who throws themselves into any challenge with energy and commitment

Your Experience:
  • You have strong experience in community engagement, including governance, stakeholder management, marketing, policies and procedures
  • Extensive ‘hands on’ experience in identifying, developing and management of community engagement related events
  • Developed project management and organisational skills and strong initiative to develop and manage own work programme with minimal supervision
  • Experience in applying community consultation and participation techniques, including partnership building
  • Sound administrative skills including customer service, correspondence, report writing and the ability to use computing equipment and software relevant to this position
  • An ability to maintain confidentiality, manage sensitive material, and communicate ideas diplomatically, sensitively and succinctly
